As Christians world over prepare to celebrate Christmas, the Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza has called on them to share with the needy in the spirit of the season.
The Bishop gave the charge while presenting food and non food items to inmates of Yola town correctional center on Christmas Eve.
Bishop Dami Mamza said he visited the inmates in the spirit of Christmas to share in the joy and happiness associated with the birth of Jesus Christ and give them a sense of joy and hope. The cleric added that Christmas is a period for merriment and sharing of love which calls for reaching out to the less privileged and downtrodden in the society. Speaking on the over stretched correctional centers across the country, Bishop Mamza urged the judiciary to make effective use of administration of criminal Justice law recently domesticated in Adamawa to set some inmates free. According to Bishop Dami by doing so,the correctional centers will be decongested as Judges speedily decide on cases, particularly for those awaiting trial. The items donated include a cow, thirty cartoons of malt, twenty cartoons of soap and ten cartoons of pomade among others.
